Canon City is a city in south-central Colorado and the county seat of Fremont County, set where the Arkansas River leaves the mountains. It is best known as the gateway to the Royal Gorge, a deep canyon crossed by a high suspension bridge. Visitors come for whitewater rafting, hiking, scenic train rides and a historic downtown, and the surrounding hills are known for dinosaur fossil finds.
