Its historic quay has pubs, restaurants and boat trips, and the Sandbanks peninsula is known for its sandy beaches. Ferries cross the harbour to Brownsea Island, a National Trust nature reserve with red squirrels, and the town is a gateway to the Jurassic Coast.
