Take your time on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast with this semi-private 2.5-hour horseback ride through rainforest and along the beach.
The route weaves in and out of the jungle on an old coconut-hauling path, opening onto long stretches of beach between Cocles and Punta Uva. Beginners are taught how to ride — the horses are patient teachers — and riders with experience get the chance to gallop on the sand. Your guide shares the local flora and fauna along the way (including a few jungle tastings), and sloths, monkeys, iguanas and tropical birds are almost always seen.
The horses use rope bridles, so most of your control comes from your legs. You might feel it the next day, but it will feel amazing!
Options on request
- Swim with the horses: extend the ride to 3 hours. At the Punta Uva river the saddles come off and bareback riders wade in while the horses play and sometimes swim a few strides; if the sea is calm, you also head into the ocean for photos and fun.
- Private for 2: make this ride private for two riders.

What to wear and bring
- Long pants or leggings are recommended for trotting and galloping.
- Shoes are recommended, especially for kids; riding barefoot is also an option.
- Leave the backpack behind — small saddle pockets carry essentials.
- A phone or small camera; your guide is happy to take photos.

We ride in light rain. In heavy storms the ride is rescheduled for safety.

Full refund for cancellations made at least 48 hours before the tour's start time. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the start are non-refundable.
