Imagine sipping fresh Costa Rican coffee with one hand and breaking off a piece of chocolate made from the cacao pod you just watched open, both grown on the same family farm beneath Arenal volcano. This is the full story of the two crops that define this land, told in about two hours along one easy trail.

Your bilingual guide takes you through the life of the coffee bean and the cacao pod side by side: the ripe fruit on the branch, the harvest, the machines that separate husk and bean, and the slow craft that turns each one into the cup and the bar you are about to taste. Coffee from cherry to cup, chocolate from bean to bar, and the tastings of both to finish.

The farm is alive around you. Along the path you will likely meet sloths in the treetops, tropical birds and the everyday wildlife of the Costa Rican rainforest, while your guide shares how the farm works with the land rather than against it.

Arenal weather turns fast, from strong sun to sudden downpours, so the whole trail is under cover and fully paved, which keeps you dry whatever the sky does and makes it easy for wheelchairs and strollers. There is safe monitored parking and a warm welcome for families: children ages eight to thirteen enjoy a reduced price and kids seven and under join free.
