One day in Corcovado is extraordinary. Two days change the experience completely. This overnight expedition gives you what no day tour can: the rainforest at dawn, when the animals are on the move, the light is soft and the park feels like it belongs only to you.

Day 1

We leave Drake Bay by boat at 6:00 am and follow the Pacific coast to Sirena Station, the most remote and biodiverse sector of Corcovado National Park. After settling in, your certified naturalist guide leads you along primary jungle trails, river crossings and coastal paths. After dinner there is a guided night hike, when frogs, insects and nocturnal mammals come out.

Night at Sirena

You sleep at the Sirena ranger station, deep inside the park. The facilities are basic but comfortable, and there are no roads and no other way in, which is exactly what makes it special.

Day 2

You wake before sunrise for the second hike, the window with the highest chance of wildlife sightings of any Corcovado experience. Tapirs, white-lipped peccaries, coatis and even pumas are seen more often in these early hours. There is also time for a swim in the Claro River before the boat takes you back to Drake Bay, arriving around 2:00 pm.

What you can see

Sirena is the only place in Costa Rica where you can realistically see all four native monkey species in the same day, along with Baird's tapir, scarlet macaws and an extraordinary variety of birds, reptiles and amphibians. It is also where jaguar sightings are most often recorded.
