Ventura, officially San Buenaventura, is a coastal city in Southern California and the seat of Ventura County, located between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. It grew around Mission San Buenaventura, founded in the late eighteenth century, and its historic downtown sits close to the beach. Visitors come for the pier, surfing and beaches, and Ventura Harbor is the main departure point for boats to Channel Islands National Park.
