Savannah is a coastal city in Georgia, near the mouth of the Savannah River and the Atlantic Ocean. Founded in the 1730s as the first settlement of the British colony of Georgia, it is known for a historic district laid out in a grid of tree-shaded public squares. Antebellum mansions, moss-draped live oaks, Forsyth Park and the cobbled riverfront draw many visitors, along with a lively food scene and the nearby beaches of Tybee Island.
