It sits at the southern end of the Mackinac Bridge, which links the Lower and Upper Peninsulas. Visitors come for the reconstructed fort at Colonial Michilimackinac, historic lighthouses, lakeside parks, shopping and the ferries to car-free Mackinac Island.
