Dover is a port town in Kent, in south-east England, on the narrowest stretch of the English Channel facing France. It is known for the White Cliffs of Dover and for Dover Castle, a large medieval fortress overlooking the harbour with wartime tunnels beneath it. Its busy ferry port links Britain with Calais, and visitors come for the castle, the clifftop walking trails and the views across the Channel.
