Paracas is a coastal town and peninsula in the Ica Region on the southern coast of Peru. It is the base for visiting the Paracas National Reserve, a protected area of desert landscapes, cliffs and beaches, and for boat trips to the Ballestas Islands, home to sea lions, Humboldt penguins and large seabird colonies. The calm bay also attracts visitors for kitesurfing and seaside stays.
