Coban is a city in the highlands of central Guatemala and the capital of the Alta Verapaz Department. Set among misty, green hills, it is a centre of coffee and cardamom growing and is known for its orchids and cool, rainy climate. The city is the main gateway to Semuc Champey and other caves, rivers and cloud forests of the Verapaz region.
