Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi Province in northwest China and one of the country's oldest cities, having served as the capital of several imperial dynasties. It was the eastern starting point of the Silk Road. Visitors come for the Terracotta Army near the city, the well-preserved Ming-era city walls, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the lively Muslim Quarter with its street food.
